Pet groomers have been added to a list of services in Melbourne that will be able to resume trade before the end of the month.
The city’s current roadmap out of coronavirus restrictions omitted pet grooming services when it was released last Sunday.
However, on Saturday, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said the service would be allowed to reopen from September 28.
“It must be a venue, it cannot be a mobile pet grooming business,” he said.
“Mobile was not judged to be safe at this time by the public health experts.”
The service must be contactless and Andrews said while it may seem like a trivial issue, it is important from an animal welfare point of view to have pet grooming.
The state’s health department on Saturday reported 37 new infections.
It would be the lowest rise since June 25 when there were 28 new cases.
